LYYN™ and Safran Developments S.L. signs distribution agreement

LYYN™ and Safran Developments S.L. has signed an Agreement for distribution of LYYN’s products in Spain and Portugal. The agreement specifically targets the market segments of Security and Sub Sea.

Safran Developments S.L. is a Spanish company with Swedish owners, specializing in promoting and selling Swedish innovative products in Spain and Portugal. Currently the company represent two Swedish companies, LYYN AB and ProMedVi AB, and distribute their products on the Iberian peninsula.

Explore long distance surveillance with Synectics

LYYN™ has entered into a partnership with Synectics Surveillance Technology, where Synectics will incorporate LYYN™ products in their product portfolio.

Synectics’ long-range cameras are protecting countries’ borders against the illegal movement of drugs, people and weapons – and using experience, gained from its Radio Direction Finding developments, the company recently won a contract from the UK’s National Air Traffic Service (NATS) for an auto-triangulation system, permitting air traffic controllers to track emergency transmissions from aircraft.

Most Synectics Surveillance systems are developed using existing technologies, to provide customer-driven solutions that often extend the accepted boundaries of other commonly marketed products.

Synectics Surveillance Technology Centre designs, develops and manufactures customised CCTV & Radio Surveillance systems, including long range cameras, on train CCTV recording systems and radio communication monitoring and direction finding systems. These are used by military, commercial, transport and Government clients – with applications throughout the world.

New findings in how we interprate vision

Obsessed with reruns of the TV sitcom Friends? Well then you probably have at least one “Jennifer Aniston cell” in your brain, suggests research on the activity patterns of single neurons in memory-linked areas of the brain. The results point to a decades-old and dismissed theory tying single neurons to individual concepts and could help neuroscientists understand the elusive human memory.

“For things that you see over and over again, your family, your boyfriend, or celebrities, your brain wires up and fires very specifically to them. These neurons are very, very specific, much more than people think,” says Christof Koch at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, US, one of the researchers.

These object-specific neurons may be at the core of how we make memories, says Charles Connor, a neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, US. “I think that’s the excitement to these results,” he says. “You are looking at the far end of the transformation from metric, visual shapes to conceptual memory-related information. It is that transformation that underlies our ability to understand the world. It’s not enough to see something familiar and match it. It’s the fact that you plug visual information into the rich tapestry of memory that brings it to life.”
