Following the successful introduction of LYYN T38™ to VideoRay users, there are many witnesses to its usefulness. However, since one of the strong points of the VideoRay ROV is its portability it introduced extra equipment necessary to carry around.

New case story on lyynified.com
Underwater Inspection in Lieu of Drydocking by SeaVision Marine Services
SeaVision Marine Services LLC recently completed two UWILD inspections on vessels operated by one of the major off shore support vessel companies in the Gulf of Mexico that are homeported in the brown waters of Port Fourchon. We used two inspection class ROVs from SeaBotix, in which the Integrated Control Console was equipped with LYYN™ image enhancement boards.
"The LYYN™ visual enhancement was critical to the overall performance. Even after traveling thirty miles off shore we only had about 5 to 8 feet of visibility, but the LYYN™ unit really helped to clear up the imagery" [more]

 |
Earlier this year Dacon AS was contacted by Fugro-Geoteam AS with a request for a new camera system for the inspection of in-sea equipment for seismic investigation. Dacon has earlier designed similar systems for Fugro but with other specifications.
This time the requirement was a system for 12 VDC, both battery and external power. They also wanted the units to have higher recording abilities but smaller in size.
The solution is based on a Sanyo zoom lens camera, an LCD monitor and a new type of Li-Ion battery. It is also equipped with integrated LYYN™ Hawk board for real-time image enhancement and an Archos 605 (40GB) recording unit.
Dacon managed to fit the whole system into two small Peli cases, and with a capacity of over 3 hours of battery time Fugro-Geoteam AS is very happy with their new cameras. [PDF] |

SeaBotix provides Swedish EOD with integrated LYYN™
Over the years SeaBotix and Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has collaborated on the design and development of a set of systems that were in need by the Swedish Armed Forces’ EOD unit. The requirement for the systems was the need to have a ROV ability to survey underwater environments in order to localize explosive charges on ship hulls, quays, bridge foundations and other areas. Use of a small ROV was deemed preferable to divers from a personal safety point of view and the more enduring method of survey.
There were many requirements set forth in the development of a solution including portability, ease of operation, capability, versatility and integration. Among them the integrated LYYN™ video enhancer.

Bengt Sahlberg has been appointed President and CEO for LYYN AB as of April 2, 2008.
Andreas Ekengren will focus on New Business Development, developing our next segments and Bengt will continue to run the Sub Sea segment.
The company is now entering the market expansion phase and needs to reallocate the management resources for this important step. This week LYYN™ has shipped the first units of the new HAWK platform to be integrated in end customer solutions. The first HAWK customers are in the Sub Sea segment but this new product will also be targeted towards other business segments. This management change will release resources to develop these other markets.
Bengt has for many years worked with international management and sales for both large and small Swedish companies, stationed abroad as well as in Sweden.
“LYYN™ is in a very interesting stage. The founders have done a tremendous job in developing LYYN, and now it is time to take the next step. LYYN™ is rapidly becoming a well known player in the international Sub Sea arena.” says Bengt. “I believe my experience in developing market channels will come in handy. LYYN™ is an exciting company with interesting technology and market opportunities.”
“We are happy to have been able to recruit someone with Bengt’s experience to manage LYYN™ in the next development phase. LYYN™ releases next generation Visibility Enhancer Platform and signs deal with SeaBotix
New Hawk integration board from LYYN™ enables SeaBotix to easily add LYYN’s Visual Enhancement technology to its LBV and LBC Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV). This greatly aids operator visibility in all types of sub-sea exploration and applications.
SeaBotix is one of the world’s leading producers of ROV for all types of undersea work including research, search and recovery, pipeline work and maritime security. The company has now signed an agreement with Swedish LYYN™ to include its V.E.T. (Visibility Enhancement Technology) video into SeaBotix ROV consoles using the HAWK Integration Board and Panel.
SeaBotix LBV and LBC systems are supplied with high-resolution low light color cameras that provide high quality video images. These images are affected by turbid waters resulting in low light, low contrast and poor color under sub-sea conditions. Using LYYN’s V.E.T., video or still images are processed in real time. The result is a vast improvement in video clarity and object identification.
”This product has been requested by our customers as an option and we are very happy that we can now be the first to offer this exciting technology as an integrated part of our ROVs.” says Jesse Rodocker, Director of Marketing at SeaBotix. ”Late last year we delivered the first 4 SeaBotix LBC Crawlers with the LYYN™ video enhancement integrated, based on reengineered portable T38s. This worked well but the HAWK Integration Board and Panel will allow for a much more easy integration.”
”This contract is a huge milestone for us. Anyone who buys an ROV from SeaBotix can now benefit from our Visibility Enhancement Technology being easily installed, either at purchase, or as an added feature when vision enhancement becomes a priority.” Says Bengt Sahlberg, Executive Vice President SubSea at LYYN. ”We already have proof that our Visibility Enhancement works exceptionally well in many situations where vision would otherwise be impaired. Now, sub-sea professionals can install our HAWK Board very easily, bringing great value visibility enhancement at low cost.”
